very well done, frantic and explosive.

The moment I booted it up and started playing, I was immediately reminded of earthworm Jim. The game has everything like it, stylish backgrounds, large amounts of ammo for a single weapon, plasma beams, however it doesnt have the same sense of humour EWJ had. Still, its fun. Thats about it.

wait, wasnt this about a motel originnaly?

it doesnt matter much, the fact that the story can continue to be so intriguing is enough to make me want to continue watching the film. the whole idea of love vs hate has been done before. but not like this, this really has a good connection to life and death. and how they seem to be even more intertwined than one would think.

however, this movie is not without warts. although the crystal idea is good, in order for them to make an impact they should appear to be useful in later installements. hopefully you wont make a platform game were you have to colect crystals. the tunnel thing was actually kinda creepy, what with the happy music, really freaks out the mind. but if you want it to actually become a lesson on fear (this is an IF), youre gonna need darker colours, the underworld seemed to happy to be a place of negative energy.

and promise me you wont do anymore flashing lights, seisure warning or not, i shouldnt have to put up with that just to see more of the story.

anyways, awesome series. and i know itll only get better once joseph starts huntin those demons.

Thanks night_raider. You're right, love&hate has been done before, there's really nothing new under the sun, but that shouldn't stop us from trying to create our own stories or versions of things. Yes, it started off in the motel, but don't worry, I haven't forgotten about that place. Joseph will go back there, it's just that he has so many other things to do in the meantime. I won't really say much what the game would be like, you'll see. I probably won't be doing more flashing lights, but anyways, I don't get why it bothers people so much. It's just like a strobe light. Crystals will be mentioned again (such as in ep.7), but they're not meant to be the main focus. I think there are more important things such as what is happening with the characters/ghosts. Thanks for taking the time to write that long review and comment on some different things that other ppl haven't mentioned. :)

awesome game.

the graphs were smooth and animation was fluent. sound was great and the attention to detail is uncanny. but there is one minor gripe is that while it plays good, the controls are a little murky and unresponsive. it fails to capture the true sense of speed that makes a sonic game a sonic game.. but its a minor gripe when you take a look at the awesomeness.

i really like the ghost motel series..

part movie, part game. but full of originality and great dialouge, and of course a creepy but appropriate choice of music. the only gripe i had with this episode was the store quest thingy, it wasnt much or a challenge, it was really just a fetch quest/process of elimination....and i think this series can do without that..

Violet-AIM responds:

Thanks for the review night_raider. I like to try out different things for interactivity so that way the users don't get bored of the same style each time. I know that the errand/retrieving the right item thing was kind of easy. Making people visit the classrooms to get info to pass the exam was so that people could get familiar with the ghost world and to understand what it took to be a demon hunter, which is what Joseph is going to be. The main focus is telling the story, and I feel that the interactivity is secondary. But, in episode 8, I'm going to try something really different, which is to have it as a pure game. :)

very stylish..

had an awesome feel to it. and was very clever. the scenery was downright beatiful, and there were some clever touches as well such as the butterflies in the stomach. perhaps next you can add levels with different animals, or different humans. well done. also, whats the name of that song?

beautiful.

in a class all its own. however, about the third time a roller blading kid on demons comes after you, it sorta gets not scary, i guess i need to go further into the game to see more enemies. good job.

ive heard these before.

rpg maker, you sneaky bastard! no matter, a sound board is a sound board.

a nice simple challenge.

well done mate, at first, i thought the green levle was lander. but then the wall came up and i realised what was going on.

KentuckyJones responds:

Thanks. I like these simple kind of games. Maybe I should put in a little description on what you have to do. You pick up after dying once though.

addictive simplistic fun.

a few suggestions though, sometimes i would eat a fish that seems smaller but instead would get killed. perhaps you should attach little numbers to the fish to help tell who to eat and who to avoid. maybe some continues? great job, i cant believe i missed it.

awesome

easily one of the most underappreciated games ever. i guess it was too complex for the simpletons. but dont let it get you, keep going.

Good to see you Newgrounds, I used to animate way way waaay back in the day, you can see what I did is all still available. I wasn't perfect then, still aren't either but what can ya do?
